Travelogue: Shenandoah Valley, Virginia

Photographing the Shenandoah Valley has been on my bucket list for some time now, so we we made it a priority to visit the area on our way south from Pennsylvania. We weren’t able to snag a campsite in the national park, but were able to reserve a site in the adjacent Shenandoah River State Park in Bentonville, VA. It turned out to be amazing!

This was hands-down one of the nicest state parks we’ve visited, if on the the smaller side. There were miles of hiking trails through the woods as well as right along the river itself. Since we only had time for a brief stay, we tried to make the most of it and spent the mornings hiking as much as possible. The weather wasn’t the best during our stay, so I was only able to get one evening of nice light. Here’s the resulting shot:

Next time we visit this area, we’ll be sure to book a campsite in the national park in advance. The more we travel this country, the more places we keep finding that we’d love to return to and explore further. There’s just so much to see!
